Petrus
“The particularity of Petrus is the single 11.4-hectare vineyard located at the top of the Pomerol plateau. It is a vineyard that benefits from a unique, rich blue clay soil, where Merlot reigns as king. Neighbouring vineyards only have a portion of this fabulous soil.
There is no château at Petrus, but historically, the place takes its name from the Latin version of Saint Peter.
The domaine was gradually purchased in 1925 from the Arnaud family by Madame Loubat, with a final settlement in 1945. In 1947, she partnered with Jean-Pierre Moucix, a Libournaise négociant, and both travelled the world to introduce Petrus to the best tables. Since 2001, the estate belonged to Jean-Pierre’s eldest son, Jean-Francois, and in 2009 his own son Jean took the realm of the estate.”
