Scott and Candice met when they were in high school. Candice definitely noticed Scott before he noticed her; he was the cute, popular older guy, while Candice was only 15 (enough said). She had a huge crush on him before he ever knew that she existed! Perseverance paid off, and through mutual friends they finally started to move in the same social circle. Candice still remembers the first time Scott said “Hi!” to her in the hallway; Candice didn’t think two little letters had ever made anyone so happy!
She already thought that Scott was unbelievably cool and good looking, but as she finally got to know him she realized how incredibly smart, funny and overall… amazing!

They continued to date into University, and at one point decided to have some time apart, but continued to remain friends. Their lives went in different directions but they always maintained a connection. Although Candice didn’t realize it at the time and it without sounding like a cliché, it truly felt like they were meant for each other!
They would go for months without seeing or talking to one another, but as soon as they did, it really felt like no time had passed at all. Eventually they decided to give dating another try; Candice can’t remember exactly how it happened but they slowly began seeing each other again. Scott was living in Victoria at the time and Candice was living in Vancouver so they dated long distance for a while. Finally Scott came to his senses and made the big leap back to Vancouver where they have been together ever since.

Given their long history together, their families and friends were always hinting and asking when the proposal would happen. On December 22, 2012 it finally happened at Candice’s favorite hotel, the Wedgewood! Prior to becoming engaged Candice, had dreamed of having her wedding at Brock House. Being a wee bit obsessed with weddings she already had many of the details of the wedding picked out before she was even engaged! Most of her family and friends thought the wedding would happen right away, but because Candice had her heart set on Brock House as the venue, they were unable to book it until 2014. This gave Candice a nice long engagement with plenty of time to revel in all of the fun of wedding planning. She had Scott’s blessing to plan the wedding of her dreams. Candice loves all things nautical, especially navy and white stripes – so the décor and wedding colors reflected this. Her most special memento from the wedding was the picture of her grandma that had been taken on her wedding day.
Candice carried this picture tucked inside her bouquet, and she knew her special grandma was with her in spirit, making sure that it was a perfect day – and it was!
