Life is about timing. For over a year, friends of Craig and Alexis tried many times to set them up, but it just didn’t work out. Who knew an Easter egg decorating party would be the time life decided was right for them to meet. Craig’s first impressions would make for a great movie – his jaw dropped and couldn’t stop staring blankly at Alexis throughout the night, while Alexis was taken by Craig’s long lashes, brown eyes and kind smile. She remembers when first meeting him thinking to herself he has a very trusting his face. They began dating but took things slowly as each had various values they were looking for in a life long partner, such as; trustworthiness, emotional stability, patience, family approval and if all of Alexis’ crazy cats would be ok! Some of their fondest dating memories were many of Alexis’s “blonde moments”, Craig realizing his dog loves Alexis more than him, Craig trying to get a not-so-sober Alexis to leave the dance floor because of her sprained ankle and her telling him it’s like asking a fish not being able to swim or checking off a childhood bucket list item of traveling to Australia to hold Koala’s and pet Kangaroos.

to spend the rest of his life with Alexis. In 2015, Craig left a card in the anniversary box at Alexis’ sisters (Megan) wedding, asking for help in joining the family. Megan read the card on their anniversary a year later and Craig asked Alexis’ dad for permission at Christmas 2016. After dad’s approval, Megan helped Craig pick out the perfect ring for Alexis. in Summerland in April 2017. There he gave them carefully orchestrated and well thought out “Plan”; where to meet, when to meet and how they were going to be the second surprise at the proposal. He arranged to have both sets of parents, one of Alexis’ sister, husband, nephew, and their best friends (who originally set them up) all at a surprise engagement party on the engagement day. On July 2nd, their three-year anniversary, Craig told Alexis they were going to a nice restaurant to celebrate! However, unbeknownst to Alexis, he made a fake reservation and when they arrived, the hostess told them they were “too early and that they couldn’t sit at the bar because a large party was expected in a few minutes.” Part two of the plan, Craig suggested a walk at a nearby park to kill some time, which “happened” to be the same park they went to on their first date. This is where Craig proposed, and of course Alexis said “YES!”. He then pointed to the bushes where his parents were hiding and taking pictures (He even made a Google slideshow with photos, arrows, and a stick people showing where everyone was supposed to hide and take photos from!). After the proposal he said they were actually to go for dinner, which ended up being at their best friend’s (who were responsible for setting them up) parents’ house. When Alexis arrived in the backyard she was surprised by her sister, husband, nephew, Craig’s brother, wife and kids! Alexis’ sister gave her the “first year anniversary wishes and predictions” card from their wedding that Craig had written. It said he hoped he would be lucky enough to have the same experience they did and get married to Alexis soon after their first anniversary. It was a very romantic and emotional day as the other major factor was that Alexis’ mom and dad were unable to be there for the proposal.
Alexis’ mom went into hospital that morning with a brain bleed and had emergency surgery shortly after Craig proposed.

Alexis’ mom and dad told Craig to still go though with the proposal that day because he’d planned so much already. Another reason Alexis had no idea he was going to propose that day as she was so consumed with worry.
